A.   簡介 Introduction (within 500 words, Chinese or English) 

3D模型在今日不只做為一種娛樂方式，或者只是一種簡化科學研究使一般大眾易於觀看之媒介，3D模型亦可作為科技整合與跨學門研究的方法。藉由3D模型之幫助，亦可提出新的研究議題並找出可能的答案。自1980年代以來，3D模型即被應用在考古學研究等各方面。
 
本論文之作者包含考古學、歷史學、資訊管理、古生態學以及遠程資訊學專家，而本論文呈現的即是一跨學科研究的初步成果。“The Seats of Power in Medieval and Early Modern Finland” 是一個跨學科研究計畫，其主要目的在於發展跨領域研究方法，藉由虛擬3D模型的新科技探索中古芬蘭城堡之建築史，並使大眾得以取得此研究結果。計畫之目標預計產出中古芬蘭兩個城堡之3D模型：Kuusisto與Häme城堡。
 
Kuusisto城堡現已為廢墟，而Häme城堡仍是保存良好並獲重建之建築物。本篇論文重點在於呈現針對Häme城堡所做的跨領域研究成果。團隊提出的問題是：Häme城堡於13至14世紀曾被作為瑞典皇家權力中心之所在地，但Häme城堡究竟是使用石造建材或是木造建材？現有的書面研究資料極少提及此議題。文中較多篇幅用來敘述Häme城堡附近之地形、植物生態、人類活動之狀態。此研究團隊另外針對花粉做了分析，最終提出一結論：透過以3D結合其他考古領域之研究，對於芬蘭境內石造城堡之日期產生了新的資訊與見解。
 
這群研究學者認為石造城堡是15世紀初期以後才出現。以Häme城堡為例，其最活耀的建築時期落在1450-1550期間。這結果與之前學者的研究有極大的不同。未來，這群學者也期待繼續合作，將Häme城堡的研究成果擴大用來解釋其建造如何影響其周遭的環境，並擬以4D的方式進一步呈現其研究結果。
