中古及文藝復興時期的敘事文類中,除知名的亞瑟王傳奇、Arcadia,Sir Degrevant和威廉·俄納(William Warner 1558? – 9 March 1609) 所著Pan his Syrinx, or Pipe, Compact of Seven Reedes 近年也受到不少研究者的注意。前者敘述Degrevant參加十字軍,因土地遭隔鄰為伯爵侵擾,匆匆還鄉,但卻愛上伯爵的女兒,步入婚姻殿堂。愛妻過世後再度參加十字軍,最後戰死沙場。俄納是英國文藝復興時代的詩人,該作品已收錄在英國早期文獻資料庫。這部類似Arcadia的傳奇文類,以敘述方式書寫的作品,書中藉由連串的故事烘托王權、社會和倫理相關的主題。威廉·俄納的故事則源於希臘神話,以七個故事討論道德與倫理議題。
